Senior Project Manager (Healthcare IT and Operations)

Position Summary: The position supports multiple divisions within an innovative and growing healthcare company and provides project management leadership, support and coordination for operations, reporting and information technology projects.     This is a broad role that requires the ability to provide project management leadership and functions as well as direct involvement in addressing gaps and implementing solutions.  Projects will be driven based on internal and external priorities and this position will be directly involved with teams, resources, systems and people performing the project work.  The position will be a member of the teams implementing solutions and have shared responsibility for the success of the projects.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates and manages the identification, prioritization and planning of projects across the organization.
  • Collaborates with the management and leadership team to categorize, prioritize projects and address resource and timing conflicts.
  • Leads and documents the results of business and technical requirements sessions in coordination with information technology (IT) and business teams.
  • Designs and recommends project management approaches and standards in collaboration with senior management.
  • Organizes, develops and maintains project plans, documentation and associated communications for all projects.  
  • Develops, tracks and manages the project budget in coordination with business and IT owners.
  • Reports project status to leadership and clients in a proactive and effective manner.
  • Is accountable for project and initiative success.
  • Manages and participates in solution selection, design and testing of business and IT solutions.
  • Assists in vendor identification, selection and management projects.
  • Creates and maintains effective visual presentations to articulate project plans, status and appropriate technical details
  • Advises customers, implementation leadership and technology team on project status and opportunities for improvement.
  • Works independently across multiple companies and divisions and with direct accountability to senior leadership.
  • As a team member and leader contributes new ideas, solutions and works towards corporate growth and excellence.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with team members distributed across multiple physical locations ensuring all key team members are aware of changes and upcoming milestones in order to successfully track dependencies and allocate resources accordingly.
  • Proactively monitor and identify potential issues in processes as well as offer solutions.
  • Interfaces with clients and helps set accurate client facing expectations ensuring the customer, business team, and technical execution team are in alignment.


Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, especially Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Advanced Excel and Visio skills required.
  • Advanced knowledge of healthcare claims, and other healthcare operations information data sources in health insurers, third-party administrators or hospitals.
  • Familiarity and work experience in IT Agile environment approaches.
  • Training or experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau.
  • Experience with project management tools such as Smartsheet.
  • Familiarity with data management and querying technologies used by EHNH and its partners, including: SFTP and ETL, and SQL-Server.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and execute multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong ability to lead, facilitate and document business, IT and operational requirements.
  • Experience establishing technical and business project management processes in new or growing organizations.
  • Strong collaboration skills, solution-oriented approach, resilient and positive outlook and ability to support change.
  • Ability to work independently, make effective business decisions and be held accountable for results.
  • Detail focused and experienced with establishing quality measurement approaches for projects.
  • Ability to consolidate ideas and collaborate with cross-functional working groups.
  • Ability to communicate at all management levels within an organization, including internal EHNH, customers, vendors and business partners.


Supervisory Responsibility: This position reports to senior management, has no direct supervisory responsibilities but will indirectly manage activities of persons inside and outside the EHN organization.


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time, salaried position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional after-hours or weekend duties.  


Travel: This position requires minimal travel from the Charleston, SC area.


Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a technology, engineering, healthcare business, clinical operations and analytics or other relevant discipline. Master's degree a plus.
  • Healthcare insurer/payer, provider or benefit administration organization experience required. 
  • 5-10 years project management experience with a combination of IT, business and analytic project management experience.
  • 2-3 years direct or general team management experience.
  • Certification and/or training in project management.
  • Lean or process improvement training a plus.
  • Presentation skills required.
  • Experience with process improvement and inventory skills.
  • Advanced time management and analytical skills.
  • Excellent client-facing communication skills.
